On the morning of March 21st, 2025, Korea Express – Saigon Port Co., Ltd. held the Labor Conference at its headquarters within Phu My 1 Industrial Park, Phu My City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.
The conference was co-chaired by Mr. Park Soo Young – General Director and Mr. Nguyen Quang Sang – President of Trade Union, with the attendance of employees from all company’s departments.

This joint venture between Saigon Port JSC and Korea Express (South Korea) was established in 2009, specializing in transportation, loading and unloading of cargo. Notably, it provides internal logistics and cargo handling services for Posco Port in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai seaport area.

The company has a grassroots Trade Union affiliated with the Trade Union of Saigon Port JSC. In 2024, the unit’s throughput reached 1.542.000 tons, generating revenue of VND 69.419 billion and achieving 109% of the annual target. thanks to the rising of internal cargo transport, particularly from the second quarter onward; the growth of road transport volumes for Perstima (export/import) and other transport companies; and the maintenance of the export volume of cold-rolled steel by the new contractor, Phu Thanh Viet (external commercial port).
The conference was also honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Member of the BM of Korea Express – Saigon Port Co., Ltd., Mr. Nguyen Kim Tien – Vice Chairman of Saigon Port JSC Trade Union and Mr. Tran Tan Phat – Member of the Standing Committee of Saigon Port JSC Trade Union.

In 2024, the company ensured stable employment and income for its workforce. Despite low cargo volume, it implemented salary increases and maintained the annual 13th-month salary. Employees were fully supported in participating in Trade Union, company and other activities, with additional time for rest or family support when work allowed. Regarding the implementation of the 2024 Labor Conference Resolution, the company met its objectives, including incorporating seniority bonuses into the 13th-month salary, providing birthday gifts, organizing company trips and retreats, conducting periodic health check-ups, giving gifts to female employees on Vietnamese Women’s Day and distributing calendars and pens for the Lunar New Year.

Regarding occupational safety and hygiene, the company has consistently ensured the provision of personal protective equipment, either on a scheduled basis or upon damage, guaranteeing both safety and comfort at work. Safety training is also conducted at least once a month for operation staff, including subcontractors, ensuring that all personnel remain well-informed and prepared. In addition, pre-work Toolbox Meetings (TBM) are mandatory for all employees, including subcontractors and safety officers are responsible for conducting daily inspections and reminders to prevent potential incidents. All equipment is thoroughly checked before use and undergoes periodic inspections every six months or annually. Simultaneously, the company implements monthly 5S activities (Sort – Set in Order – Shine – Standardize – Sustain) for all employees. The company also participated in an Oil Spill Response and Port Security on November 21st, 2024. As a result, Korea Express – Saigon Port was awarded a certificate by Posco Vietnam for its efforts in safe cargo handling and continuous infrastructure improvements, ensuring a secure and efficient working environment.
Pre-work Toolbox Meetings (TBM)
The Company’s Trade Union primarily aligns its activities with the programs of the Saigon Port JSC Trade Union. These include celebrating International Women’s Day, organizing the walking tournament “Healthy to do good work”, fundraising campaign to support the drought and salinity in the Mekong Delta, participating in the “Maritime Family Moments” competition and contributing to disaster relief efforts in Northern Vietnam. Additionally, the union organized heritage trips to An Giang and Tay Ninh for the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union, distributed New Year calendars and provided gifts to 6 disadvantaged members under the “Tet Reunion – Shared Spring” program organized by the Vietnam Maritime Corporation Trade Union. It also proposed support for 4 members facing financial difficulties during Workers’ Month and rewarded children of 2 members for outstanding achievements in provincial exams. Furthermore, the union donated Tet fair gifts to 11 dedicated members, encouraged employees to participate in voluntary blood donation campaigns organized by the Phu My Commune People’s Committee and collaborated with the company to establish an occupational safety and health network. It also distributed rice and traditional cakes to employees for the Lunar New Year, recognized outstanding students among employees’ children for the 2023-2024 academic year, provided Mid-Autumn Festival gifts and offered birthday allowances. As a result of these efforts, the company’s trade union was honored with a Commendation from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Maritime Corporation Trade Union for its outstanding achievements in labor emulation, effective management and trade union activities in 2024.

During the discussion session, the General Director, the President of Trade Union and attendees actively exchanged ideas. Over here, key solutions were agreed upon to drive mutual success for both the company and its employees.
The conference agreed on the direction for the new year 2025.
The participants agreed with the company’s leadership and Trade Union on their commitment to achieving the set goals, increasing output, revenue and profit. At the same time, they emphasized that safety remains the top priority – whether at the workplace, outside of work, or at home – while striving to maintain salaries and benefits for employees.
The conference ended in excitement and full of confidence.
