SSIT is pleased to announce the successful inauguration of new “ZXB” service operated by ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, marking another significant milestone in the port’s strategy to expand international maritime connectivity within the Cai Mep – Thi Vai deep-water port cluster.

The first upsized vessel of ZXB service calling SSIT is M/V ZIM MOUNT RAINIER, a Singapore-flagged next-generation container vessel featuring impressive scale and advanced operational technology in line with the global maritime industry’s sustainable development trend. M/V ZIM MOUNT RAINIER measures 366 meters LOA with a capacity of 15,124 TEUs, placing her among the large container vessels currently deployed on major international trade routes. Notably, the vessel is powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), one of the most advanced green energy solutions in the shipping industry today, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting environmental sustainability.

The new “ZXB service” provides direct cargo connectivity among strategic international gateways including Singapore – Cai Mep – Haiphong – Yantian – Xiamen – Kingston – Charleston – Savannah – New York – Boston, thereby strengthening trade connectivity between Vietnam and major economic and logistics hubs across Asia and the U.S. East Coast. SSIT’s selection as one of the key port calls within the service rotation further reaffirms the terminal’s operational capabilities, strategic position, and ability to accommodate ultra-large container vessels within the global shipping network.

Mr. Phan Hoang Vu, General Director of SSIT, shared that “The SSIT team sincerely appreciates ZIM’s trust in selecting SSIT as the terminal for the ZXB service. Our cooperation with ZIM, which started in 2025, has continued to strengthen, and the introduction of the ZXB service with regular calls at SSIT marks an important new step forward. This milestone comes at a time when the maritime industry is rapidly evolving, particularly on trade routes between Vietnam and the United States. The successful handling of the LNG-powered mega container vessel ZIM MOUNT RAINIER reflects our joint commitment to advancing green and sustainable maritime development in Vietnam. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the entire ZIM team for the unwavering cooperation, professionalism, and collaboration in making this service a success.”
At the same time, we truly appreciate the invaluable support from the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration, the Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Administration, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and other governmental authorities, whose collaboration has been essential to the port’s successful development and operations. With a long-term development vision, the SSIT team remains committed to continuously enhancing service quality, optimizing operational capabilities, and partnering with international shipping lines in building a modern, efficient, and environmentally sustainable logistics network.
